The Original Merimbuula Jazz Festival Committee (pictured below) was formed following a blow-in at Stan Delle Vergin's home in 1980.

When Barry Pascoe left the area and John Cursley resigned, Ken Gordon joined the Committee. Sadly Barry died several years ago.
After working hard over 16 Festivals John Moffat resigned and Terry Leonard, then President of the Down South Jazz Club, was invited to join.

In 1999 Lylie Price was added to the committee and took over the onerous job as secretary.
2003 saw the introduction of Rob Young as a Committee man .
Stan, who was a Founding Father, has been a stalwart and is the longest serving committee member (25 years this year). He and Helen have always been there for the Festival child and have put in untold time and energy to bring the event up and make it what it is today.

In 2006 the 26th Merimbula Jazz Festival will see some new faces on the Committee as those who have guided it so well for so long take a well deserved rest. In future years Stan, Ken, Tery and Lylie will be found in the crowds tapping their feet to the music, sipping a wine or two and just enjoying the festival. They certainly deserve it!
